Merrivale Primary School
Warrnambool
Education, Community
The architectural design for Merrivale Primary School delivers a contemporary, flexible learning environment guided by a long‑term master‑planning strategy. The project integrates new buildings with existing facilities while improving site access, circulation and the school’s public presence.
A new administration building establishes a clear and welcoming main entry, strengthening the school’s identity and providing an organised hub for administration, staff spaces and amenities. Positioned to address the street, it creates a legible arrival point for students, families and the wider community.
Learning spaces are designed for adaptability, with a Shared Learning Hub comprising three general purpose classrooms arranged around a central collaborative space. Operable walls and flexible layouts support a range of teaching modes, from individual classroom learning to larger shared activities.
Improved universally accessible paths and upgraded outdoor spaces enhance connectivity across the site, reinforcing inclusive movement and strong relationships between buildings, landscape and learning environments.
