Oberon South Primary School
Belmont
Education, Modular, Commercial, Community
Wangala Primary School is a purpose‑built primary school delivered on the former Oberon High School site in Belmont, replacing the original Oberon South Primary School facilities. DE atelier Architects partnered with Rendine Construction and the Victorian School Building Authority to design and deliver one of VSBA’s early permanent modular school projects, supporting the rapid delivery of high‑quality educational infrastructure.
The project comprises two architecturally designed modular buildings connected by covered walkways and open northern decks that provide breakout learning spaces. Building A accommodates administration, staff amenities, student facilities, shared learning areas and food preparation spaces, while Building B contains additional shared learning rooms, a library and practical activities spaces. Flexibility was a key design objective, with large sliding walls enabling spaces to open, divide and adapt as the school grows.
The buildings are fully DDA‑compliant, providing universal access throughout, and were carefully detailed to achieve a permanent, grounded architectural character while utilising off‑site construction methods.
