Thomson Reserve Changerooms is a community sporting infrastructure project delivered for the City of Greater Geelong, providing new, contemporary changeroom facilities at Thomson Recreation Reserve. DE atelier Architects were engaged to undertake the architectural design, documentation and construction stage services for a new pavilion supporting the Thomson Football Netball Club and Thomson Cricket Club.
The project was developed in alignment with AFL Design Standards and formed part of the Victorian Government’s Female‑Friendly Changerooms initiative, responding to the growing participation of women and girls in community sport. The facility includes home and away changerooms, accessible amenities, player shower and toilet facilities, and a multipurpose all‑weather spectator room with an external covered viewing area.
Designed to support inclusive, flexible and year‑round community use, the project was completed on time and within budget, despite the challenges of delivery during the COVID period.
